BOLS

Bols was the second band I played drums for, along with 4 other drummers (!) Not at the same time though. I just guess drummers can be tricky creatures to keep in a band...

Bols was fronted by Per Eirik Johansen on vocals, with Jan Ivar Johansen and Sveinung Eilertsen on guitars and Bjørn Riise on bass.

Due to the fluidity of the 5 drummers' presence behind the kit, I only played a handful of gigs with them, but recorded a couple of tracks that can be found on the retrospective album "Film", released in 2021.

After the band split, me and Jan Ivar made some music together with a 4-track recorder, some synths and a drum machine, but nothing got to the point of release. Maybe the archives will be opened at some point...

Per Eirik stayed a close friend throughout the years, and moved on to managing bands and eventually became the CEO of Virgin Records/EMI in Oslo, where he later signed one Mental Overdrive in 1999. But that's another story.

Unfortunately Per Eirik, Bjørn and Sveinung left us far too early. Rest in power. You were all true stars.
